A dryer vent inspection is the first and last steps of every Ecovent cleaning, done on their own. A home inspection rarely goes past the laundry closet. Before closing, know whether the run is rigid metal or vinyl, where it exits, and whether it was ever cleaned.

How long does a dryer vent inspection take?

The airflow test is what finds that.
Can you inspect a vent I cannot see?
Yes. Most of a Florida run is hidden: it leaves the laundry closet, crosses the attic or a wall cavity and comes out at the roof or a side wall. The technician traces it from both ends, checks what is reachable from the attic, and reads the rest from the airflow. If a section is damaged, that shows up as air that does not arrive at the exit.
Is a screen on the vent hood a problem?
Yes. A screen catches lint and clogs, which is why the residential code calls for a backdraft damper with no screen at a dryer exhaust termination. Builders and pest companies still fit them to keep birds out. The inspection notes it, and the fix is a proper hood with a flap that swings open when the dryer runs.
Do you inspect commercial dryer vents?
