The short answer
When does ductwork need replacing rather than cleaning?
When the ductwork itself has failed. A cleaning removes lint, dust and obstructions from ductwork that is otherwise sound. It cannot fix a run that leaks, a section that has been crushed, or flex duct that has deteriorated. When that is what the inspection finds, the fix is to remove the failing ductwork and install new, and that is the job Ecovent Dryer Duct Solutions does for homes and businesses across Pinellas and Pasco counties, from St. Petersburg and Seminole to Port Richey and Hudson.
Every replacement starts with a full inspection of the whole system, so you know which runs are failing and which are sound before anything comes out. Then the failing ductwork is removed and the new ductwork is installed properly. Plan for a full day or more, depending on the system. The quote is free and carries no obligation. Sound ductwork gets cleaned; failing ductwork gets replaced. The inspection is what decides which.
Cleaning vs replacement
What does a replacement do that a cleaning can’t?
The same company does both, and they are not the same job. One works on what is inside the ductwork. The other swaps the ductwork itself.

The visit
What happens on a duct replacement?
Three steps, in this order, every time. Nothing is removed before the inspection says it has failed.
- 01
Full inspection
The whole system, before anything is removed. The inspection finds which runs are failing and which are sound, and the free, no-obligation quote is built from that.
- 02
Removal of failing ductwork
The runs that leak, have been crushed or have deteriorated come out. Only the ductwork that has failed is removed.
- 03
Expert installation
New ductwork goes in where the failing runs were, installed properly rather than patched. Plan for a full day or more, depending on the system.
or more is what a duct replacement can take: inspection, removal of the failing runs, then installation.

Pricing
What affects the price of a duct replacement?
Every system is different, so there is no single number to print. Here is what moves the quote, and what is always part of the job.
How much of the ductwork is failing
One crushed run is a different job from a system where most of the flex duct has deteriorated. The inspection counts the runs that have to come out.
Attic access
New ductwork goes in where the old runs were, and that is often an attic. How easy that space is to reach and work in sets how long removal and installation take.
System size
A larger system has more runs to remove, more to install and more registers to connect. The inspection measures it before you get a number.
Always included
- A full inspection of the whole system
- Removal of the failing ductwork
- Expert installation of the new ductwork
- A free, no-obligation quote
Good questions
Questions people ask before a duct replacement
How long does a duct replacement take?
A full day or more, depending on the system. The inspection comes first, then the failing ductwork is removed, then the new ductwork is installed. An air duct cleaning, by comparison, is usually finished in one to three hours, which is the quickest way to tell the two jobs apart on the calendar.
What is included in a duct replacement?
A full inspection of the whole system, removal of the ductwork that has failed, and expert installation of the new ductwork. The quote before any of it is free and carries no obligation. Homes and businesses across Pinellas and Pasco counties get the same scope.
Should I clean my ducts or replace them?
Clean them when the ductwork is sound and the problem is what is inside it: lint, dust and obstructions. Replace them when the ductwork itself has failed: leaks, crushed runs or flex duct that has deteriorated. A cleaning cannot fix those. If you are not sure which you have, the inspection settles it, and it is the first step of every replacement.
Is the quote free?
Yes. Every quote from Ecovent is free and carries no obligation, for duct replacement just as for dryer vent and air duct cleaning. What moves the number is how much of the ductwork is failing, how easy the attic is to get into, and the size of the system.
Failing ductwork doesn’t clean up. Replace the run.
A full inspection first, then the failing ductwork out and new ductwork in. A full day or more, and the quote is free.
